Derek Brink

Derek Brink -Bass
I grew up in St. Louis around a rich musical heritage.  A lot of people in my family played instruments, and when my parents bought me my first guitar at the age of 6, that pretty much set the course of my life.  I guess I came into my own when I bought my first bass at a pawn shop when I was about 11.  A couple of years later, my mom signed me up for lessons, and that was pretty much it.  It has been non-stop ever since.

I've spent many years playing in different bands, all to different levels of success.  Most notably, I've been in the St. Louis based acts known as union jack (yes, it's supposed to be lowercase), Uncle Dick, and Blue Tattoo.  I've also carved out a niche for myself as a solo recording artist (and you can read about that at www.derekbrink.com).

I was between gigs when Mike made contact with me through a mutual friend to play a fill-in gig for his old band's bass player.  That led to me recording bass parts for his first solo record, which lead to me joining his band.  Six years and four records later, I'm proud to still be making music with Mike (and now with Kenny, too).  It's been a heck of a ride from coffee-houses to prisons (though not as inmates-so far) to the streets of St. Louis and beyond.  I look forward to whatever the future
holds.

I currently live in the St. Louis area in a house all by myself (that's right, ladies!) and am employed at a college library.  Quiet by day, loud at night.

Kenny Williamson

Kenny Williamson – Drums
My sister Donna played drums in the ‘60's and ‘70's with a country band called ‘Silverwings'. I remember going to watch them when I was young, and eventually began getting called up to sit in for a couple of songs at each show. Even at 7 and 8, I knew playing drums would be a part of my life, one way or another.

My first band was fresh out of high school, in Wichita , Kansas , called ‘Flint Hills Southern'. This was during the Urban Cowboy craze, and we were playing good ole boy Rockin' Country music. After a couple of years, my musical tastes changed, as I discovered Tom Petty, Elvis Costello, The Cars, Pat Benetar, and other early ‘New Wave' groups getting airplay. I formed a band with some friends, calling ourselves ‘My Three Sons', playing on the fact we had a female singer/keyboardist as our front person.

Following that, I became more focused on my career, and traveling, and playing drums took a 16 year hiatus, until the year 2000, when I decided it was time to get back in the saddle. I played for three years with the band ‘ The Trailer Park Travolta's', writing and performing all original Alternative Rock/Country material. In 2003, the bass player from the band and I broke off and formed a Classic Country band called ‘Honky Tonk Rodeo', covering artists such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakum, etc. We still get together occasionally for a gig when we can. I currently live in Lake St. Louis , with my girlfriend/'un-official' wife of 11 years Rocky. We have two Beagles, a cat, a bird, and I work at Brown Shoe Company, in Clayton.
